DELTA Takes Part in Weekend of Service DELTActs supports four weekend events across the Washington area as part of public service opportunities for DELTA employees.
 

Arlington, VA – DELTA Resources Inc. employees were working across the metro Washington area over the weekend of April 23-26 in support of the company’s philanthropic arm of DELTActs. Serving the community is one of the core values at DELTA and employees are encouraged to help when opportunities present themselves. This was especially true during the final weekend of April. The weekend kicked off on Friday night as DELTA employees participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington Cemetery. A wreath was laid by WWII veterans visiting Washington through the Honor Flight Network. 88 veterans from around the country participated as Honor Flights flew them to the city to visit their memorials and tour other landmarks.

On Saturday DELTA employees served at two events, the Servathon 2010 by DC Cares and The Car Show for the Troops by VFW Francis Cannon Post 7589. During the Servathon DELTA employee cleaned up Malcom X Elementary School and the surrounding neighborhood in Southeast DC. It marked the fourth year DELTA had a team taking part in the event. The event not only beautifies the Capital city, but also raised funds for other volunteer efforts throughout the year.

This years was also the fourth time DELTA provided financial support and volunteers to the Car Show for the Troops in Manassas, Va. DELTA also provided a raffle item Washington Nationals tickets. Through the Car Show the VFW raised several thousand dollars that was donated to the Fisher House™ Foundation.

Monday brought the 7th Annual Fisher House Golf Classic at The Golf Club at Lansdowne Resort in Lansdowne, Va. DELTA was an “Intrepid Sponsor” for the fourth year in a row. DELTA provided a team of Kevin Mills, DELTA Chief Financial Officer, Tom Winckler, Chief Operating Officer, and Mike Hallahan, Vice President of Development, to participate in the Golf Classic. DELTA also supported the event by donating Washington Nationals tickets as raffle items, working with the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake to provide a weekend getaway auction item, and giving a branded sleeve of golf balls for participants. DELTA President & CEO Maria Proestou also served on the Steering Committee for the event
